National Trust Senior Membership Discount – How to Save 25%

National Trust - Senior Membership 25% Off

Many members of the National Trust don’t realise that a special discount is available once you reach 60. If you’ve been a loyal member for at least three years, you could cut the cost of your membership by up to 25%. This concession is not widely advertised, and it isn’t applied automatically, so here’s everything you need to know about securing your National Trust senior discount.

How to Claim the Senior Membership Rate

Unlike standard offers, the senior discount won’t appear online and won’t be triggered when you reach the qualifying age. Instead, you’ll need to:

  • Call the National Trust on 0344 800 1895
  • Ask specifically for the concessionary senior membership
  • Apply before your next renewal date if you pay by Direct Debit (discounts cannot be backdated)

This discount is designed for members who have been supporting the charity consistently, so you’ll need at least three consecutive years of individual or joint membership before applying.

Why the Discount Isn’t Automatic

The National Trust explains that some members prefer to keep paying the full rate, knowing their money goes towards preserving historic houses, gardens and countryside. However, since the concession is intended as a reward for long-term members, you can feel confident in making the most of it if you qualify.

Extra Benefits of National Trust Membership

Even without discounts, membership comes with a range of perks.

  • Reciprocal arrangements – Your membership card can also be used overseas thanks to partnerships with heritage organisations in more than 30 countries. This means free or reduced entry to attractions abroad — ideal if you’re planning a holiday.
  • Family savings – Grandparents may prefer the Family Membership, which allows you to bring up to 10 grandchildren (aged 17 and under) at no extra cost. While this option can’t be combined with the senior discount, it’s an excellent choice for those who enjoy family days out together.

Is the Senior Discount Worth It?

For those aged 60+, saving up to 25% off membership makes regular visits to National Trust sites even better value. Whether you’re interested in historic buildings, beautiful gardens or countryside walks, the concessionary rate can save loyal members a significant amount each year.

Tip: If you qualify, make sure you request the discount in advance. It’s a simple phone call that could save you money on every visit.
