Alton Towers Dungeon - Tarot Cards

The new Alton Towers Dungeon is undergoing final preparations in readiness for the 2019 season. The Alton Towers Dungeon will be a walk-through attraction lasting around 45 minutes.

The Alton Towers Dungeon

A Trademark Application for ‘The Alton Towers Dungeon’ was filed with the British government on 27 June 2018. The new attraction will be located in the building which was previously the home of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. The Alton Towers Dungeon experience will last approximately 45 minutes and will feature a “hideously scary” boat ride, utilising the hardware from the former Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride. This same site has also previously operated as Toyland Tours and Around the World in 80 Days.

The Alton Towers Dungeon Ticket Prices

The new attraction will open when the Alton Towers’ main season commences on the 23rd March 2019. There will be a £7.50 admission charge, or £5 when pre-booked online. This is in addition to the regular Theme Park entry ticket.

What’s Included

The new Alton Towers Dungeon will feature five actor-led shows including themes based on the local legend of the Burslem witch, Molly Leigh, who was accused of witchcraft in Stoke-on-Trent area during the 17th and 18th centuries. Some of the shows include being sentenced by the Bishop of Stafford, surviving the plague and enduring the torturer, bringing to life some of the spookiest tales from the local area.

The Dungeons

The Dungeons are a uniquely thrilling attraction which uses a mixture of live actors and special effects. Visitors can see, hear, smell and feel historic stories come to life before their eyes. The attractions normally incorporate local history based on their location along with more generic British medieval history.

The London Dungeon attraction was the first to open in 1976, this was followed ten years later by The York Dungeon. In the year 2000, a Dungeon was opened in Edinburgh. More recently a Dungeon was added to Warwick Castle in 2009 and The Blackpool Tower in 2011.
