Thorpe Park’s New Hyperia Rollercoaster Shuts Suddenly Due To ‘Unforeseen Circumstances’

HYPERIA Silohette CLOSED

Thorpe Park has been forced to close its much-hyped new rollercoaster Hyperia due to “unforeseen circumstances” – just a day after it opened to the public.

Hyperia is billed as the UK’s Tallest and Fastest Roller Coaster, exceeding speeds of 80mph and ascending to a towering 236ft.

Hyperia to Remain Closed

Sadly, following the grand opening of Hyperia to the public on Friday 24th May, the Surrey theme park was forced to announce the following day that it was unable to open the ride “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Apologising to customers “for the disappointment this will cause”, a statement issued by Thorpe Park on Saturday said: “We are working hard to reopen Hyperia as soon as possible and will keep people updated via our website and social media.”

But in a further statement on Tuesday 28th May, officials at the theme park said Hyperia may have to remain closed for as long as a fortnight.

“Despite our best efforts we are unable to commit to reopening Hyperia before Saturday 8th June,”

A Significant Technical Issue

A significant technical issue has seen the ride closed since Saturday, the day after its public debut.

Personnel from the rides German manufacturer Mack Rides are on-site working diligently to investigate the problem. They have been seen examining the ride’s lift hill, which has been speculated as being behind the closure.

In a recent announcement, Thorpe Park Resort said:

“Despite our best efforts, we are unable to commit to reopening Hyperia before Saturday 8 June,”

Working to Get Hyperia Back Into Flight Soon!

Responding to a social media user’s claim it had opened the new ride too early, a spokesperson replied: “Absolutely not, we’d never compromise safety. As with any new ride, we have weeks of rigorous safety checks before the ride opens to the public. We’re working to get Hyperia back into full flight soon.”

Amending Your Thorpe Park Resort Booking

Those who visited Thorpe Park on Saturday are entitled to a free return visit, whilst anyone who has pre-booked a visit for up to and including 7th June can change their booking online.

If you wish to Amend Your Booking, you can do this on the Thorpe Park Resort Official Website.

UK’s Tallest Rollercoaster

The opening of Hyperia meant the ride had briefly replaced the Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach as the UK’s Tallest Rollercoaster, which sits at a height of just over 70m.

It also temporarily claimed the crown of the UK’s Fastest Rollercoaster from Stealth which is also located at Thorpe Park.
