Repairs have been carried out following a small fire which took place on the Wicker Man on Friday 26th July 2024.
Fusing Wood With Fire
Wicker Man is acclaimed for being the World’s first wooden roller coaster to fuse wood with fire but the ride at Alton Towers Resort sadly suffered a real fire.
Wicker Man was evacuated on the morning of Friday 26th July 2024 and fire alarms were activated.
Footage showed smoke rising from the ride’s track, well away from the programmed fire effects of the central theming structure.
Remedial Work Has Been Carried Out
Following the fire, the ride remained closed whilst remedial work was carried out. Scaffolding was built and the ride was covered with tarpaulin whilst repair work was conducted.
“Wicker Man is constructed with treated wood which inhibits fire ignition.”
Wicker Man is Open!
According to the Official Alton Towers Ride Availability Webpage, the repair work is complete and Wicker Man is back open.
