Kynren – An Epic Tale of England is the UK’s ‘must see’ spectacular live-action show. First launched in 2016, the epic performance takes the audience on an immersive journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend.
Discover the History of England
The 1,000-strong cast and crew of volunteers engage in a complex and robust set of training programmes with highly-skilled performance industry specialists, to deliver the skills needed to produce world-class entertainment.
Performed every summer on a 7.5-acre stage – the scale of five football pitches – the action-packed production includes magnificent horses and a menagerie of other starring animals and is played out in front of an 8,000-seat amphitheatre known as the Tribune.
Discover the History of England
The world class show is brought to life with magnificent sets, mass choreography, combat, stunts, horsemanship, stunning pyrotechnics and amazing special effects, including water jets and state of the art video projections.
Featuring An Epic Soundtrack
Award-winning composer Nathan Stornetta has worked alongside film score master Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Dark Knight Rises, Pirates of the Caribbean), and has created Kynren’s epic soundtrack, that evokes drama and excitement.
The dialogue itself features the distinctive tones of Kevin Whately, best known for his roles in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Inspector Morse and Lewis. Kevin plays the part of Old Arthur, the character who reveals the secret of time travel to Young Arthur, setting him off on his quest for knowledge and discovery of the meaning of ‘Kynren’.
A Dazzling Outdoor Theatre Spectacular
Two thousand years of history, myth and legend rush by in 90 minutes as we join young Arthur on his epic quest. Rebellions, wars, magic, majesty, celebration and heartache are vividly brought to ground-shaking life in a dazzling outdoor-theatre spectacular.
From Boudicca’s battles with the Romans to two world wars, via Vikings, Tudors and the fate of Charles I, Kynren’s a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale.
Kynren echoes the Anglo Saxon word ‘cynren’, meaning generation, kin or family, and reflects the inspiration among those involved in the production.
