Roller Coasters
Oakwood Theme Park History
Following the introduction of milk quotas in 1987, the McNamara family (Pembrokeshire farmland owners) diversified into the leisure industry forming Oakwood Leisure Ltd. The Theme Park started out as a very small family park with a wooden fort, BMX's, a 3D cinema experience, go-karts and a water chute ride.
Thrilling Theme Park
In 1994 the Snake River Falls water coaster was opened and the theme park saw an increase in visitor numbers, this encouraged the park's management to pursue the development of the park into a more 'thrilling' theme park. At a cost of £1.7 million, the Megafobia Wooden Rollercoaster opened On 30th April 1996. It was thanks to this investment that Oakwood Theme Park had a record 500,000 visitors in one season for the first-ever time. Also in 1996, the theme park started an annual After Dark event with late-night opening, fireworks, entertainment and discounted evening entry.
In March 2008 Aspro Ocio S.A acquired the park and have brought in a number of changes, for example, they restructured staff levels in order to coincide with market conditions.
