Gulliver’s Valley South Yorkshire Review

Family Fun at Gulliver's Valley

We were kindly invited to visit Gulliver’s Valley in South Yorkshire during the Easter School Holidays. This is the newest addition to the Gulliver’s theme park collection, and despite being open since July 2020, this was our first ever visit.

Gulliver’s Valley – A Theme Park Built from Experience

Having previously visited all of the other Gulliver’s theme parks in Milton Keynes, Warrington and Matlock Bath, we had a reasonable idea of what to expect, but we were quite pleasantly surprised. You can clearly see that this Gulliver’s theme park benefited from being built from scratch, with nice wide footpaths, a logical park layout, and facilities always available nearby.

Gulliver's Valley - Theme Park Rides

A Great Day Out For Families With Children Under 12

The park perfectly suits its target market, families with children under 12. There is a wide selection of rides and attractions on offer, with play facilities interspersed amongst them throughout the park. Having operated their three other locations for a number of years, it is clear to see that Gulliver’s made use of this knowledge when designing and constructing Gulliver’s Valley.

Enjoy A Great Value Short Breaks at Gulliver’s

Like most UK Theme Parks, Gulliver’s Valley is split into a number of zones with around half a dozen attractions within each zone. One of the key factors is that the accommodation is right in the centre of the park, so anyone staying on-site is right at the heart of the action. With some great package deals available with both accommodation and park tickets included, Gulliver’s Valley would be a great choice for anyone looking for a great value short break. Check our dedicated Gulliver’s Offers Page for the best value Gulliver’s Tickets and Short Break Packages.

The majority of the accommodation at Gulliver’s features some great theming, with one of the lodges themed as a Megadolon.

Indoor Rides and Attractions

We arrived at Gulliver’s Valley shortly after the park opened, and we had no problem finding a car parking space. It was good to see that parking is free. You enter the park through a giant warehouse type building. The interior of the building is nicely decorated with themed elements and lot’s of bright colours taking away the feeling that you inside a big shed. Split over two floors, the building is crammed full of rides and attractions for you to discover and being only a short walk from the on-site accommodation, it is ideal if you are staying over and it to happened to be a rainy day.

Gulliver's Valley - Indoor Shops and Attractions

In addition to the rides and attractions. also within the building, there is soft play, bouncy castles, a play town, mini golf, climbing walls and much more. Facilities include toilets, shops, restaurants, a bar and even a theatre.

Gulliver’s Valley Mini Farm

After exploring the indoor section of the park, we headed outside to the mini farm, which is a collaboration between Gulliver’s Theme Parks and Valley Wildlife. This section of the park is home to various animals, including beautiful ponies and playful goats. There is an option to upgrade your theme park ticket to enjoy an animal experience, and despite not doing this on our visit, we felt that the prices looked very reasonable.

Gulliver’s New Rides and Attractions for 2025

The mini-farm led us into the Gears section of the park, where the two new rides for 2025 are located, Crazy Planes and Turbo Tower. Before going on the new rides, we took a ride on ‘Grand Prix Races’, a nicely themed roller coaster that is an ideal size for younger children.

Minimal Queing

The queue for Turbo Tower was the longest that we waited in all day, but the ride operators are all very efficient, so even to experience this new ride on a weekend in the middle of the school holidays, we only had to wait 15 minutes. We were very impressed with the ride, it lifted us high into the air, offering great views of the other attractions and the area surrounding the theme park.

Western World

After visiting Gears, we moved on to the ‘Western World’, despite our two children being at the higher end of the age range, they had great fun in the Western Bank Heist play town. Whilst they played, we ordered pizzas for lunch from the adjacent food outlet. The pizzas were very tasty, having been cooked in a pizza oven, and they weren’t too badly priced.

Gulliver's Valley - Western Play Town

Also in the Western World section of the park, we enjoyed a ride on the Tombstone Mine ride, and the kids rode the ‘Rocky Ridge Railway’, but unfortunately, we felt it was a little too cold to ride Apache Falls wild river water ride. It looked like a fantastic ride, but people who were getting off were quite wet, and we didn’t fancy being cold and wet for the remainder of the day.

Lost World – Dinosaur Themed Land

Following lunch and the attractions in the Western World, we headed for ‘Lost World’, the dinosaur-themed section of the park. On our way to the Lost World, we passed through Toyland and Smugglers Wharf, where we rode a number of rides, including The Wriggler roller coaster and the Ghostly Galleon Pirate Ship.

The Lost World section of the park features some of the larger rides that Gulliver’s Valley has to offer. By now, it was late afternoon, and the park was very quiet, meaning that these rides were pretty much walk-on. We really enjoyed T-Rex Tower, which featured a pair of waterslides and the kids re-rode the Paragliders swing ride numerous times.

Gyrosaur – A Thrilling Ride Experience

My personal favourite was Gyrosaur, the most intense ride at the park, which wouldn’t look out of place at theme parks aimed at older children like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park Resort. This inverting Frisbee ride is quite intimidating for younger children. You can see the ride in action from all sections of the park, and we were really looking forward to riding it. We were certanly not disappointed enjoyiny multiple goes on this and the nearby T-Rex Tower, and Paragliders swing ride.

As it neared closing time, which on the day we visited was 5.00pm, we headed back indoors and the kids did a few more rides and attractions whilst we sat and had a hot chocolate before the journey home.

Gulliver’s Valley Summary

We had a great day out at Gulliver’s Valley, the kids loved experiencing the many rides and attractions on offer, along with the many play areas and play towns. We also enjoyed experiencing some of the bigger attractions that were on offer. One of the great things with Gulliver’s is that despite being a Saturday in the middle of the Easter School Holidays, we never waited any longer than 15 minutes to get on a ride, with many of them pretty much walk on. Aside from River Tours and one of the slides on T-Rex Tower, which were not in operation on the day we visited, we never saw any downtime.

Gulliver's Valley - T-Rex Tower

The build zone section of the park could do with some tlc, but apart from this, all other sections of the park were clean, tidy and well presented.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first-ever visit and will definitely be visiting again in the future.
We visited Gulliver’s Valley on Saturday 19th April 2025.
