Having planned a trip to Blackpool for the August Bank Holiday weekend with all the family we wanted to visit some attractions that catered for everyone and wouldn’t be spoilt by the British weather.
Madame Tussauds Blackpool
There are loads of great attractions to choose from when visiting Blackpool but we decided that on this occasion we would visit Madame Tussauds followed by The Blackpool Tower Circus which is only a short distance further up the main promenade from Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

Madame Tussauds Tickets
We were a large party consisting of four children and six adults, one member of our party required a mobility scooter in order to get around so it would be an interesting test to see how we managed with this. Having done some research prior to our visit we had established that the average visit time is 2 hours so in order to avoid having to rush we pre-booked our Madame Tussauds Tickets for 1.00pm followed by the Blackpool Tower Circus at 4.00pm.
You can save on entry to both attractions by using 2-4-1 vouchers from Kellogg’s cereal boxes or Tesco Clubcard points but for the biggest savings, we would recommend the Blackpool Big Ticket.

The Blackpool Big Ticket provides entry to 6 fantastic Blackpool attractions, all conveniently located in close proximity to one another. Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE are adjacent to one another and the other four attractions are all located within The Blackpool Tower building, just a short walk along Blackpool’s famous promenade.
Check the Madame Tussauds Official Website for multiple ticket options.
A Family Attraction
On arrival, there was a dedicated entry for pre-booked tickets and despite it being a Bank holiday weekend, the queue was minimal for those choosing to pay on the day. Entry to the attraction was quick and easy and the hosts were very welcoming.
As usual for a Merlin Attraction, there is a photo opportunity at the beginning of the experience taken against a green screen by a professional photographer. These are great when you are wanting some memorable photos from your holiday but try to avoid wearing green or your body will be invisible when the background is superimposed.

Interactive Elements
The exhibits within Madame Tussauds include a lot of interactive elements, for example, the first scene from Strictly Come Dancing featured paddles that you and your friends can hold up for your own photo opportunity. The I’m A Celebrity section had replicas of the Bush Tucker trials and a rope bridge that you can cross.
Hidden Secrets
As you make your way around the attraction keep a look out for some of the hidden surprises, for example, look out for the Queen’s Corgi and look inside the lockers in the sports zone.

Walk on The Red Carpet
We had a great time posing with some of our favourite sports stars and celebrities. In the music section, there were more interactive elements that were great fun like playing the drums with the Beatles and pretending to be Lady GaGa.
Make a Wax Version of your Hand
At the midway point, there is an opportunity to mould a wax version of your hand. Refreshments are available from a recreation of The Rovers Return where we enjoyed a pint in the company of Ken Barlow and Vera Duckworth.
Marvel Super Heroes
Undoubtedly our favourite part of the attraction was the Marvel Super Heroes where you can join Hulk, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Thor in replica movie scenes where you can pose for photographs and be part of the action. Here you can also pose with a 10-foot recreation of Groot and the furry Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Comedians
The final section includes a mirror maze, more photo opportunities and a chance to meet some well-known comedians including Alan Carr and Paddy McGuiness. In a nod to Blackpool’s racy British Seaside humour, there are some saucy postcards adorning the walls.

Madame Tussauds Blackpool Summary
Our visit lasted around 2½ hours which also included a 30-minute refreshments stop at The Rovers Return. It was a very pleasant and relaxed experience, not too overcrowded meaning that there were plenty of opportunities to take photos with the models without feeling hurried. We were very impressed with how accessible the attraction is, all of the staff were very helpful and accommodating when it came to the member of our group who required the use of a mobility scooter.

The level of detail that goes into the wax models is fantastic and when sharing photos with your friends you could easily convince them that you had met the celebrity in person. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and happy to talk to us and answer any questions.
Buy a Blackpool Big Ticket and combine your visit with some of Blackpool’s other attractions to save on the regular admission prices. Check the Madame Tussauds Official Website for multiple ticket options.
A Great Family Entertainment
In summary, we would describe Madame Tussauds Blackpool as a great attraction to entertain all members of the family. There is a great selection of wax models to cater to all generations. The attention to detail that goes into making each of the models is clear to see with them all displaying life-like qualities.
We visited Madame Tussauds Blackpool on Saturday 27th August 2022.
