Whilst spending a few days in York with our kids during the February half-term holidays, we were looking for something new and unique to experience that would entertain all members of our party.

One of the latest additions to York’s many and varied attractions is The Puzzling World Of Professor Kettlestring, a building filled with optical illusions and brain-bending challenges. Here, visitors are invited to step into the whimsical world of Professor Kettlestring, a renowned puzzle master and enigmatic genius. With his wild hair, mischievous smile, and twinkling eyes, just like the attraction itself, the professor is a figure of intrigue and curiosity.
An Interactive Attraction
Located in the centre of the city, The Puzzling World Of Professor Kettlestring is both fun and entertaining, featuring lots of hands-on interactive exhibits.
As you make your way through the attraction, there are some great photo opportunities. You can either capture the photos using your own camera or utilise the professional cameras, which are all strategically positioned to help ensure that you get that perfect Instagram shot.

Prebook your visit online and choose whatever time works best for you. The attraction is located in the heart of York City Centre at Merchantgate, so there are plenty of places to grab some lunch either before or after your visit.

When you first enter, you learn all about the history of Professor Kettlestring and some of his crazy inventions. Once inside the attraction, hands-on interaction is encouraged with staff on hand should you have any questions or require any assistance.

The attraction is split across a number of rooms with no set route, so you can experience the illusions in any order you wish and are welcome to revisit your favourites. Our personal favourites included the Enigma Chair and the Head Havoc Parlor.
A Family-Run Business
This family-run business is the brainchild of Matthew and Marianne Tritton-Hughes, who are bringing more than 45 years of customer service and hospitality experience into crafting this magical venture. Their goal? To invite curious minds from 5 to 105 years old to step into a world where nothing is as it seems.
