Gold Rush’s compact layout offers two distinct ride experiences. This is achieved by combining two fast switches that allow access to multiple ride sections. This dynamic layout increases re-rideability, as the ride cycle can be changed throughout the day or whenever else the park decides.
Next-Generation Trains
Leveraging Intamin’s experience and technology from LSM Launch Coasters, Gold Rush’s train chassis was designed using machined aluminium for a weld-free structure. This approach reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates the need for non-destructive weld testing.
Accessible Maintenance Shed from Backstage Area
Drayton Manor’s proposed location required a convenient placement for the maintenance shed, close to the park’s backstage area. Intamin addressed this by using the fast switch as an access point to the maintenance bay. This triple switch, weighing approximately 18 tons, can move in just a few seconds and is also one of the key elements that make Gold Rush unique.
Frontier Falls at Drayton Manor
Gold Rush is located in Frontier Falls, a Wild West-themed land at Drayton Manor Resort, launched in spring 2024 to bring together family fun and frontier adventure. Anchored by Gold Rush, an Intamin family lift‑&‑launch coaster that races through airtime hills and even launches riders backwards or forward in an immersive barn setting, this area truly captures the spirit of a rugged mining town. Alongside the coaster, five attractions Accelerator, Sheriff’s Showdown, Blasting Barrels, The Haunting, and the Falls Theatre now sit on a cohesive street lined with saloon facades, jails, and themed shops, each infused with Western flair.
