UK Roller Coasters Featuring Vertical Lift Hills

For thrill-seekers looking for that extra adrenaline rush, coasters featuring a vertical lift hill deliver a unique build-up to the drop. These rides elevate you straight up before you plunge back down, for example, the ride Rage at Adventure Island uses a 23-metre vertical lift hill before its dramatic descent.

In the UK, you’ll also find rides like The Smiler at Alton Towers Resort and SSAW at Thorpe Park Resort using the same lift style to build anticipation. The sensation of climbing straight up adds a moment of suspense that transforms the drop into something much more than just speed. It’s ideal for guests seeking bold coaster experiences.
