Toxicator is a high-thrill flat ride located in the post-apocalyptic, bio-hazard realm of Forbidden Valley at Alton Towers Resort. Opened on March 15, 2025, this powerful attraction propels riders high above Forbidden Valley, flipping them upside down and delivering intense 360-degree rotations as part of the ongoing Phalanx military storyline surrounding Nemesis Reborn.

Manufactured by legendary German ride builders HUSS Park Attractions, Toxicator is a state-of-the-art Top Spin Suspended model. Known during its planning phases under the secret code-name Project Ocean, the attraction stands at a record-breaking total height of 78ft thanks to its 16ft elevated platform in Forbidden Valley, restoring a high-thrill Top Spin experience to the area ten years after the retirement of Ripsaw.

The Phalanx Storyline & Forbidden Valley Lore
Toxicator is deeply woven into the dark, sci-fi lore of Forbidden Valley and the shadowy Phalanx Organisation. Having re-captured and genetically modified the alien Nemesis creature to weaponise its destructive power, the Phalanx engineered Toxicator as a specialised extraction centrifuge.
The ride applies intense, high-speed centrifugal spinning forces to separate toxic saliva harvested from the Nemesis creature. This extracted chemical venom is transformed into a potent solution so strong it can dissolve almost anything it encounters. Disguised as an industrial decontamination unit, unsuspecting park guests are strapped into the centrifuge to test the limits of the toxic extraction process!
Ride Experience & World-First HUSS Features
HUSS Park Attractions worked closely with Merlin Magic Making and Alton Towers Resort to deliver a completely bespoke Top Spin Suspended installation:
- World-First Elevated Structure: Toxicator is the only Top Spin in the world built on a 16ft elevated concrete platform, allowing park visitors and spectators to walk through a tunnel directly underneath the action while looking up at the inverted gondola.
- Floorless Suspended Seating: Unlike classic Top Spins (where riders’ feet rest on a gondola floor), Toxicator features HUSS’s floorless design with upgraded shoulder restraints, letting 38 riders sit back-to-back with legs dangling freely in the air.
- European Double-Sided Configuration: Toxicator is one of only two double-sided Top Spin Suspended attractions in Europe (alongside Talocan at Phantasialand in Germany).
- Synchronised Water Fountain System: Multifunctional green-lit water fountains shoot up to 8 metres high on both sides of the ride (directly over the entrance and exit tunnel), holding riders face-down over a bubbling pool of “toxic alien acid.”
- Custom Show Cycles & All-Weather Tech: Features custom soundtracks, LED lighting, and synchronised motion profiles designed for both day and night events like Alton After Dark, complete with built-in dryers for year-round operation.

“We’re excited to be giving fans a flavour of the truly ‘spincredible’ power of Toxicator. As the UK’s only topspin ride, those brave enough to submit to the spin will be able to experience the latest that Forbidden Valley has to offer.”
— Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort
