Thinking About Taking the Kids to A Theme Park? Use These Safety Tips

Chessington World of Adventures Resort - World of Jumanji

What’s the point in taking your kids to a theme park if they’re too young to remember anything? We’re under the impression they’re not old enough to recall what happened…but children remember because they have such impeccable memories. Your kids might be unable to lay out every detail, but the trip will definitely have a lasting impression. Theme parks in the UK accommodate some of the world’s best rides and one-of-a-kind attractions. Hours can be lost grappling with long lines, so if you want to have a fun day out, don’t show up without a game plan, even if you prefer going with the flow.

Thrilling Experiences

Theme parks are suited for all ages, many of them are included in the Merlin Annual Pass, which means you can save a fair amount of money while enjoying the most thrilling and incredible experiences. If you don’t want to stray too far from the capital, stop by Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland Windsor Resort, Thorpe Park, or Paultons Family Theme Park – your kids will thank you for it.

Visitor Safety

Theme parks across the country take precautions to ensure visitor’s safety, and even if injuries do occur, it’s most likely because people didn’t follow the recommended safety guidelines.

Here are some safety tips to keep in mind this summer:

Take Photos of Your Kids as Soon as You Arrive

Crowded spaces are back, and neither you nor your family will enjoy feeling stapled to people next to you in jam-packed queues. Sometimes, disaster strikes in the blink of an eye: for a quick second, you lose sight of one of your children, which makes your heart run wild. You think it’ll never happen to you, it can’t happen to you because you’re the only person in the world to whom these things never happen. That’s where you’re wrong. When your family visits a theme park, take photos to have current shots of your kids you can share with park staff in case they get lost.

Maybe you don’t like to discuss the “what ifs” before the big day out, but as a parent of young children, it helps to get an idea of the different scenarios and equip your offspring with the skills they need if they become separated from you. Teach your kids their full names and have them memorise your phone number, one of the most basic yet crucial information to know in an emergency.

Beat The Heat

Temperatures have been slowly but surely rising throughout the summer months, year after year, meaning that Britain is getting hotter. When it’s too hot, there are health risks, especially for youngsters, who are less able to regulate body temperature and risk developing diarrhoea or heat strokes due to dehydration. If you go outside in the midday heat, make sure your kids wear sunscreen and have light-coloured clothes that reflect heat and help the body cool down. Above all, make sure your children drink plenty of water because their bodies need adequate hydration to function at their best. Step inside the shade if the sun is getting to you.

Comply With the Theme Park Rules, Signs, And Instructions

All theme parks have rules for the safety and comfort of guests because a fantastic design doesn’t necessarily ensure a fantastic experience, and restrictions such as height, weight, and health must be adhered to. As boring as warnings might seem, take the message seriously, or else. Not following the rules is the number one cause of accidents, so if you’re especially concerned about your family’s safety, don’t refuse to play by the rules. Read the theme park rules, signs, and instructions carefully and do what you’re expected to do; never force anyone, especially children, to ride attractions not suitable for them.

If you still have questions on what might be appropriate or comfortable for you and your group, stop by the guest relations office. Not everything is your fault. Things go beyond your control from time to time, so it’s important to understand your rights and the steps to take in case of an accident. Though rarely, unfortunate events happen, serving as a powerful reminder that even the most enjoyable experiences can turn into nightmares, so it’s best to remain vigilant. If an injury occurred and it wasn’t an accident, you may be able to recover monetary damages since the theme park didn’t meet its obligation to provide a safe environment for tourists.

If You See Something, Say Something

Theme parks are safe environments, but accidents can happen, even at the best-run ones, which can lead to serious or fatal injuries. For this reason, if you happen to notice an issue during your visit, don’t hesitate to bring up the matter so it doesn’t become a bigger issue and put someone’s life in danger. Ignoring the issue, thinking it’s none of your business, does more harm than good. All staff members are properly trained to handle guests’ complaints professionally and politely, and if there’s a matter that requires a supervisor or manager, the information will be passed on when they arrive.

Wrapping It Up

Theme parks offer epic rides, fun adventures, and a thrilling time. What more can you want? You can share these amazing experiences and create memories with your loved ones. Theme parks in the UK are incredibly safe, so injuries aren’t common, but you’re the only one responsible for your safety. Open your eyes and look away from your phone. If you need to leave the theme park in a hurry, panicking is never a good thing, so know your exits ahead of time, even if you can turn to staff in those rare circumstances. You know how the saying goes: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”.
