The horseshoe turn is essentially a 180degree turnaround with high banking so that riders are tilted at the top at the element. The horseshoe is named that way because the element is shaped roughly like a horseshoe, with a semicircular shape at the top.
Where to Experience a Horseshoe Turn
Horseshoe turns are frequently found on Steel Spinning Roller Coasters manufactured by Maurer Sohne. You can experience this ride element on Dragon’s Fury at Chessington World of Adventures and Spinball Whizzer at Alton Towers Resort.
