Kumali is a spectacular £6m steel thrill ride located at Flamingo Land Resort in North Yorkshire. Officially opened in 2006, this iconic suspended looping coaster is famously named after the alpha male of Flamingo Land zoo’s resident lion pride.
The Kumali Roller Coaster at Flamingo Land
Kumali features a unique custom track layout that separates it from standard off-the-shelf models. Riders are suspended directly beneath the track with their legs dangling freely, experiencing extreme G-forces as they are pulled through a dizzying sequence of loops and rolls.
Featuring a total of four intense inversions, riders experience a crushing 4.2g. The ride drops into an 87-foot tall vertical loop, rolls through a 55-foot Zero-G roll, and finishes with a stunning Cobra Roll and Boomerang element suspended 75 feet directly over a scenic park lake.

How Fast is Kumali at Flamingo Land?
For those wondering about the Kumali Flamingo Land speed, the roller coaster utilizes a steep first drop to whip riders up to a breathtaking top speed of 56 mph (90 km/h). The sheer pace it maintains through the custom layout makes it one of the most intense roller coasters in the region.

A Rare Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster
Kumali is currently one of only three operating Vekoma Suspended Looping Coasters (SLC) in the UK. The other two are The Odyssey at Fantasy Island near Skegness (which is the tallest of the three) and Infusion at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The inverted design of this ride means that the roller coaster train is suspended directly beneath the track. With nothing but thin air below your feet, riders are completely exposed to the elements, making for an incredibly thrilling flight—especially if you are brave enough to request the front row!
