Universal Theme Park Coming to the UK

When it comes to Theme Parks Disney and Universal are two of the biggest names so it is very exciting to hear that Universal are planning a brand new theme park right here in the UK!

New UK Theme Park

Universal Studios has confirmed planning is under way for its first UK Theme Park and they have already bought a huge patch of land in Bedford for the resort.

The studio, which is owned by Comcast is always on the lookout for new locations that could become homes for potential projects.

Easy to Get There

Demographics are key criteria when deciding upon a location for a new Theme Park on this scale. Universals UK Theme Park will be located only 45 minutes north of London and is easily accessible from Luton airport. More than half of the UK population live within two hours of the new attraction. The selected location is less than half an hour away from Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes and less than an hour from Warner Brothers Studios in Watford.

Thrilling Rides and Attractions

Universal Islands of Adventure in Florida is home to a number of thrilling rides and state of the art attractions including Jurassic World VelociCoaster, The Incredible Hulk coaster and Jurassic Park River Adventure to name a few.

Its sister park, Universal Studios Florida is also home to a great lineup of rides and attractions.

Harry Potter Themed Rides and Attractions

Universal is perhaps most well known for having their Harry Potter Themed Lands and attractions with guests even having the opportunity to take a ride on the Hogwarts Express.

Indoor Rides and Attractions

Indoor rides could feature heavily in the new UK Theme Park to help cater for the UKs weather. This will not phase Universal who have produced some awesome indoor rides including Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

Top 10 UK Theme Parks

This is very exciting news but Universal have stressed that they while they do own the land in Bedford, it will still be a long time before they are ready to make a decision regarding whether or not to proceed. They are still very early in the planning stages of the project and are determining its feasibility.

If the project does go ahead, it could mean there is some strong competition for the likes of Alton Towers Resort, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. We envisage that this new attraction would certainly be challenging for the top spot in our Top 10 UK Theme Parks listing.
